Legendary isn't a terrible movie because it's got a reasonably good, if not cliched message. It has superb actors Patricia Clarkson and Danny Glover reading awkward dialogue and although John Cena isn't bad here, he lacks when you compare him to the veteran film stars.

He's a good action star but maybe family dramas aren't his genre... but it was made by WWE studios, so I guess a wrestler is required for the film (personally, I would have loved to see The Godfather in Cena's role).

It's basically family friendly, except for one very peculiar scene involving a nude weigh-in, which also sums up feel the film: peculiar and awkward. I wasn't sold on the nerdy kid (Devon Graye) wanting to become a wrestler and I don't know why his mom was flipping back and forth between supporting her son wrestling and not.

It's hard to hate an inspirational movie like Legendary, but it's also hard to recommend something that doesn't bring anything new to the genre and you've seen many times before.
