Review of Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen (2010) by Ritchie G — 23 Sep 2010
Wait, did I detect Green Hornet, The Matrix Reloaded, Band of Brothers and even Iron Monkey in this now becoming standard fare of period kungfu peppered with endless Chinese Nationalism?
A bit let down by the mega-over-dramatic fighting scenes, which is so cheesy-1990s and the irritatingly distracting ominous gothic music totally does not complement the mood. However, Donnie Yen is at the prime of his KungFu Stardom, and he is reason enough to watch this show -- this time bloody rough and the visceral slashes. Too bad for the Bruce Lee impersonation, it's just not Donnie.
