Review of Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen (2010) by Slugger B — 06 Oct 2010
Legend of the Fist has some jawdropping fight sequence, that prove that Donnie Yen could become the ultimate fighting star. The film starts out during WWI and quickly goes back to Shanghai, with Yen acting as someone else and that Chen Zhen died in the war.
Zhen starts to work in a nightclub in deguise and slowly becomes invovled with a hostess there, meanwhile he is in costume and fighting the invading Japanese in the streets at night. The film feels unbalanced with the romantic subplot that feels rushed and takes time away to really show Yen as a badass and come on that's what all of us really want.
