Review of Legend (2015) by Andruw F — 30 Mar 2016

Tom Hardy gives a great performance, and not just because he has a dual role! Emily Browning is good as well! The Kray Brothers are also great characters, and I loved how they were different, and how Ron had a bit of a mental problem! The cinematography is also great! Notably this one scene towards the beginning where Reggie is on his first date with Frances! The direction, production value, and score were pretty good.

Not perfect, but definitely not bad. The writing was alright, and the story wasn't that interesting. But the fact that the story isn't very original meant it had to be great to stand out. There was only one great fight scene, and barely any others.

They also did great with one actor as twins! They barely used effects or stunt doubles. Overall, the movie was alright. Tom Hardy was great (obviously) and there were a few scenes that I loved and thought stood out.

But the writing and story were "cliche" and not good enough for that to be alright, and it didn't feel like there were any stakes, so watching the movie was more of just watching a biography/documentary, not really worrying or caring what would happen next.

I liked it, and enough to get it fresh, and to say that I would recommend watching it. But don't expect greatness or a masterpiece. Just expect Tom Hardy to do great, and doing something different! And a few excellent scenes!
