Review of Legend (1985) by Tomasan — 28 Apr 2009
Legend is a decently written fantasy adventure story that has a well placed view on fantasy elements like magic, sorcery and adventure. Well equipped with chivalry, elves and Tom Cruise in a mini-skirt basically :) Hey, at least it doesn't constantly focus on David Bowie's package in some silver tights!! It is actually a groundbreaking movie for the fantasy/ adventure realm of movies like 'Dragonslayer', 'Willow', Conan, and more recently 'Lord of the Rings'.
The special effects are decent for the time, but the best part about the whole movie is the sets! The movie looks like it was actually filmed in some fantasy land in a far away place. Much like Blade Runner, Scott films with sets that bring you to a whole different world.
The acting was a bit on the lame side, but it wasn't as bad as Labyrinth ;) Worth a fair 4 starz even, and thats coming from a fan of fantasy/adventure films. Minus one star for the epic cheese dialog between Tom Cruise and Princess Lily.
To lovey,dovey-cheezy :( Some of Darkness' lines were a bit cheesy, but he was overall pretty evil and pretty cool looking ;).
