Theatrical Cut Review:

I thought this film was a visual masterpiece. What the story lacks in terms of definition and character development makes up in soundtrack and make up effects. The creature designs were incredible, especially Tim Curry's Lord of Darkness prosthetics. Combine these elements with Tangerine Dream's ethereal soundtrack and you get an underrated fantasy classic.
