Review of Legend (1985) by Crystal H — 04 Sep 2009
I remember as a child loving this movie, as I have always been interested in fantasy. But as I went back and watched it as an adult, I saw many flaws that I just couldn't get past. There are some elements in the movie that I thought were alright, but there were far more that I thought should have been left out.
I think that the over all story was a good idea, the atmosphere and environment were great, and I love the make up and majority of the cast. But the comic relief (Screwball and Brown Tom; Billy Barty and Cork Hubbert's characters) I felt was unneccessary.
I didn't like Tom Cruise's role anymore. He didn't really portray a wild, natural person very well. The script also was awful. Every other line I found myself shaking my head and grunting at the horrible clichés.
I guess the right word for the movie would be: lame. It could have been a good movie, but it is just not.
