Review of Legend (1985) by Rachel S — 05 Oct 2011
Saw the Directors Cut on DVD. I don't know how it differs from the theatrical version, but this fantasy is an all right viewing experience. It's a trip to see Cruise in one of his first roles (I wonder why he hasn't worked with Scott again?) and Ridley Scott proves himself to always have been a visually masterful director, even when the plot isn't as suspenseful as an alien killing off the crew of a spaceship.
The film looks gorgeous, though is quite strange at times too. I do like seeing Mia Sara--one of those beautiful brown-eyed brunettes from the '80s. (Where have they all gone?!?! All the brunettes nowadays on screen seem to be blue eyed!) Her character is actually a great one for a young actress--it has a nice arc to it.
Worth seeing overall.
