Review of Legend (1985) by Nate G — 12 Apr 2012
The lure of Ridley Scott teamed with a young Tom Cruise was too much to resist. Lets start with the good. Scott achieved a very high level of success in creating a visually pleasing world. Some of the mystical characters were sort of lame, but others, especially the Lord of Darkness were very impressive.
The plot, as a whole however is where the movie experienced most of it's follies. Maybe I'm just not nerd enough to appreciate it, but it was just very corny, and bordering on childish. This would be ok, of course, if it seemed like it could be all that enjoyable to a child.
Maybe it could to some, but I doubt that as a kid I would have found this any more than mildly interesting. Cruises performance, also, was disappointing. He had very few lines and was mostly just prancing around the entire movie.
All in all Legend was visually great but otherwise a bore.
