An amusing fantasy film flawed by bad casting and a mediocre script. Although Tim Curry almost steals the show as Darkness and the film has some truly impressive visuals, the movie fails to rise above its disappointing script and poor acting on the part of Mia Sara and Tom Cruise--neither of whom were suited for their roles in the film.
