Review of Legend (1985) by Hawk _ — 19 Nov 2014
This was supposed to be an "edgy" and dark fantasy movie for grownups. The edginess appears to come from the fact that the villain of the piece is Satan (although billed oficially as "Lord of Darkness") To be fair to Tim Curry, he does a great job at playing the devil and the scenes with him are a delight.
Unfortunately everything else seems to be your standard run of the mill fantasy movie. Legend takes after Krull in that it has a group of awkwardly named adventurers take on multiple tasks that seem to have little to do with the overall story, Krull did this all so much better, although you might remember I also gave that a low score and I still stand by my rating for that.
I've seen a handful of 80's fantasy movies now, and it's a group of films that just doesn't "click" with me for some reason. Make no mistake though, this is on the bottom rung.
The film also features music by Tangerine Dream, which was a delight and one of the few highpoints of the movie.
