Review of Legally Blonde (2001) by Benwomack — 14 Mar 2020
Relationship to the truth: Anything for a laugh. The Amanda Brown book is also fantasy.
Description: The idea is one of fresh vs. stuffy. A woman wears bright pink; other characters are duller. Tale of revenge- Man dismantles his set-up habit with a woman to pursue a career in law. Woman goes out of her way to supersede man, to prove how empty this ambition is, compared to a life with her.
Reaction: I do laugh, but it has nasty bits. Starting with the soundtrack.
The thing about this is, why am I not the patriarchy and so on... Quite seriously, I might be.
Takes a cool head to put on a farce.
It is perfectly possible, that this is an absolutely alright movie,.
But that I saw it at a time, when I really needed something brilliant.
And so, see it as less. However. With comedy, the structure really speaks, can't just have one or two good ideas; and also... easy to slip into cruel mocking.
Because, my grand thesis, comedy isn't really funny. It's a thing people do just before bursting into tears. There. And studying Law is actually difficult, I'd imagine.
Thanks.
Does it use beautiful people to get your attention? Si.
