Review of Left Behind II: Tribulation Force (2002) by Johnny L — 24 Apr 2009
Okay, this was a little better than the last one. Maybe they took someone's advice about the musical score and cut down on the Christian cheese power ballads. Seriously, loving God is one thing, making bad music about it set to synth drums and keyboards is another.
God is plugging his pious ears somewhere and that is why we experience earthquakes, floods, and tornadoes so stop it, musical people! That said, this one was action-packed and fun to watch. But what was the deal with the creepy woman in white? She looked like she was salivating over Brad Johnson (Rayford Steele).
I don't blame her. He's a hunky guy in the prime of his life, but following him around singing? Ah well, I guess it's better her than Rick Astley following the guy around singing "Together Forever" ("Captain Steele got rick-rolled, yo!").
Gordon Currie continues to stun me with just how perfect he is for his role, though his accent sometimes sounds more Scottish than Romanian. That Russian dude from Rocky probably would have been stellar in the role of Nicolae, but I guess he's probably too old now, isn't he? I've seen previews for the next movie.
..and it actually looks pretty good. I wonder if they are done making these movies or if they continued to the end of the series?
