Review of Left Behind II: Tribulation Force (2002) by Donna S — 26 Jul 2009
The first movie in this series had a little trouble establishing its identity. This movie had no problem with that. Tribulation Force was a movie specifically designed to enforce the beliefs of the audience to whom it was aimed.
Not that there is anything wrong with that...except when it interferes with the story. This film allows its message to get in the way of the story. The story is an extremely intriguing story from a source that has been around much longer than other stories such as Gojira which has its roots in fact (I call this a story because the proceedings within it have not happened yet...or, at least to the best of our knowledge). The goodbye scene at the airport was extremely shaky and uncomfortable. Too many statements of faith and praise which interrupted the flow of the movie.
Please do not misinterpret this critical review. My comments are meant to criticize a movie as a movie. If one finds spiritual uplifting and reassurance from this film, that is a good thing. But as a movie which tells a story, this film falls short.
