Review of Left Behind (2014) by Michael P — 07 Jan 2015
I just dont understand why this movie was rated so low. First of all lets start with Nic Cage, aka as Mr. Steele in the movie. Cage was as strong an actor as Lexington Steele in all of his films. For a man over 50, he looked no older than 35.
The choice of actors in this movie were incredibly done as well. Notice how any important females to the plot were blondes of the best acting chops? From the daughter to the wife to the mistress to the odd junkie on the plane. Chad M Murray was decent too, and hes a blonde.
The musical score was as spot on as I've ever seen, with the right tones and inflections powering the story. Even the light acoustic at various parts in the beginning were pleasant.
As for the story, wow what commentary on our current climate. A godless society where children and believers are the only ones safe from God's wrath. If you ever questioned how nice a god he really is, after seeing this movie you will want to live your life just a little better. There was even a nice little dwarf toss scene in the middle of the madness that lightened everything. They even managed to mix a little action into the film, some real classic Nic Cage stuff.
It turned from drama, to comedy, to societal reflection, to action. It was like My Sister's Keeper, The Interview, Lock Stock and Die Hard all rolled into one film. The ominous last line of the film will have me coming back for part 2.
