First off, let me start by stating, I'm not a Christian. But I read the critics reviews..and then reread them because they were laughable!

YES IT'S A FAITH BASED FILM...GET OVER IT!!

It's supposed to be. Yet the critics tear it apart.

Why?

Well, let's see...

Gary Goldstien of the LA Times snarkily states that "Left Behind' is also an insult to anyone hoping for any sort of credible theological discussion.".

Um Gary, it's a faith based film. Not everything that surrounds faith has to be rationalized and debated. It's called "faith" for a reason!

John Noonan of FILMINK calims "Ostensibly an exploration of biblical themes, Left Behind avoids any theological debate to revel unsuccessfully in the mass-hysteria created by God's Rapture.".

There it is again with the "debate". What is it with journalists? I understand investigative reporters looking for factual evidence, but columnists who work on opinion are free from having to do so.

And James Berardinelli of REELVIEWS claims "it feels the constant need to remind viewers that this was made by evangelical Christians. To that end, we get lots of preaching and Bible verse quoting.".

Yep James, there's that pesky niche market application again. At least James tries to educate everyone later on in his review about how the end times would play out so the reader gets a bit of understanding for the plot.

Yet every other reviewer seems to be making a thinly veiled attempt to hide their disdain for the film due to it's Christianity based plot.

There's another genre of films that are targeted at a specific market and not for mainstream audiences, Bollywood.

Yet I don't see the LA Times or New York Times tearing them apart for "too much dancing and ethnic leaning.

This type of disdain only seems to be aimed at the Christian based films.

I gave it 5 stars to stick in the craw of the snooty journalists who can't see past their own prejudices to give an honest, unbiased view of the film.
