Review of Leaving Las Vegas (1995) by Ryan A — 15 Jun 2009
This is one of the most depressing films you will ever see, but Cage is phenomenal in this role as a guy drinking himself to death. The guy who wrote the book that this is based on drank himself to death, so it's basically a suicide note.
This is a fantastic American film in the vein of Billy Wilder's 'The Lost Weekend' and I highly recommend it. Make sure you're in the mood for some very serious drama, though. If you thought 'Requiem for a Dream' was great, then this is right up your alley.
