â??I came here to drink myself to death.â?? Does that sound like a good time to you? Do you want to see Nicolas Cage fulfill that promise? Well, than press play and enjoy. For one hour and 52 minutes you can watch Cage chug down bottle after bottle, fall in love with Elisabeth Shueâ??s hooker with a heart of gold (or is that just glittering self-loathing?), and get his noggin knocked in a couple times.
Sure, there are strong performances here but is this a powerful film? Or is it just painful? VF (Can you believe it?).
