Ehhh....no.

Such a shame, cuz when Nick Cage is good, he's usually great. Idk, the whole movie felt way too labored, like the cast and crew were deliberately trying too hard to make a depressing, "good" movie...it's neither of those things. I felt absolutely nothing for the 2 main characters, maybe it's cuz their robotic acting made it all seem too fake. Even the editing needed some work, they messed up a simple scene where he's drinking alone, and it's super obvious where the flub is. *sigh*. I can see why this would appeal to the critics, most of them are blinded from bad acting nowadays, cuz they're more sensitive to issues found in this film. Maybe I'd have been more touched by it if had seemed more real. Can't believe Cage wins for this and not for Adaptation or Lord Of War, he was about a thousand times better in both of those. An hour after I finished this, I brought it to Disc Replay and got $5 for it. Should've done that before I watched it. :/.
