This is a ROUGH film to watch. It had been so long since I last saw it that I forgot how uncomfortable and awkward this movie is. Being uncomfortable and awkward is what makes this such a gem of a movie though. As dysfunctional as the main characters are, you can't help but love them. Behind every troubled person you meet, there is a story. This movie does a great job of bringing two of these stories to life.
I feel two messages come through loud and clear from the plot of this movie. a.) Nobody, no matter how dysfunctional they might be, wants to be alone. and b.) You can't "change" a person. People can only change themselves.
Certainly a thought-provoking, shocking film.
