Review of Leaves of Grass (2009) by Sandra R — 02 May 2010
"A Serious Man", "Fight Club", and "Pineapple Express" all at once. It's a comedy, but one that I should really watch again, because there is an eye and ear for detail, especially in the "philosophizing" scenes, that makes gestures greater than it's "country mouse and city mouse" plot would suggest.
Tim Blake Nelson was supposedly the only cast member of "O Brother Where Art Thou" who had read "The Odyssey" and it shows here, even as he casts himself in this movie, as yet another lovable every-man yokel.
At once a very personal, philosophical, and comically daft film, but not inaccessible in any of the ways associated with films like this.
