Review of Leaves of Grass (2009) by Lacey K — 02 Oct 2012
A tight little film that defies classification; it's got humor, drama, a touch of romance, some mystery and tension. Norton is fantastic, award worthy really. The closest thing Leaves of Grass resembles is a Coen brothers work with the style toned down.
Nelson's script and direction do not draw attention to themselves but let the characters breath and make decisions that feel natural. Along with Shutter Island, Leaves of Grass is one of the best films so far this year.
