Review of Leave Her to Heaven (1945) by Tibor B — 03 Dec 2007
Fantastic 40s Noir that is as dark in content as it is Technicolour bright and colourful. Forget bunny boiling, how about allowing your new husbands disabled young brother to drown then throwing yourself down the stairs to kill your unborn child just because you just LOVE your man so much and want him all to yourself.
Oh and your man resembles your father. Just to get a bit of "fashionable" Freud in there and keep up with Hitchcok and Lang. Tierney is fab in this in a rare case of her being the obsessed rather than people obsessing over her (Preminger's Laura etc) Her slightly icy aloofness here hides a truly dangerous, tortured mind.
Men beware!
