Review of Leave Her to Heaven (1945) by Christopher S — 26 Aug 2010
Overrated but serviceable melodrama gets off to a pretty weak start, but grows increasingly compelling as the psychological aspects of the story grow more complex - thanks in large part to an excellent, enigmatic performance by Gene Tierney, though Cornel Wilde is pretty stiff opposite.
Despite some memorable sequences and great color cinematography, it just doesn't live up to its classic reputation.
