Review of Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990) by Chris M — 03 Aug 2008
Even in it's unrated form, Leatherface still fails to pack a punch. The gore is more plentiful, yes, but where's the likeable characters, where's the entertainment, where did the last 90 minutes go? Leatherface is just more of the same old story we've seen a thousand times. There's no thrills or chills in this mess of a film.
Jeff Burr, a director who has proven himself to me with his memorable and entertaining forays into the genre with The Outing and Stepfather II, shows no such skill in this film. There's very little style and even less substance. One is left wishing Leatherface and his laughably malicious family would do us a favor and kill off all the characters...quickly.
Don't waste your time!
