It had potential, but a cautious and weary New Line massacred a once brutally violent and unflinching film. What is claimed to be the "original uncut classic" isn't, since the footage New Line cut was long lost before the advent of Unrated video.
It's no surprise the director called New Line demanding his name be removed from the credits. Bob Shaye does it again.
