Review of Learning to Drive (2014) by Three N — 09 Jul 2016
As movies go, it's painfully obvious this is a chick flick.
If it were a dessert, it'd be a meringue: sweet, cute, fluffy, but unsatisfying.
The ending felt truncated - the movie kept building up until I felt like wendy: "are you ever going to come!?" and then suddenly "bloop!" that was it. done. over.
I'm not understanding one glaringly obvious plot hole: darwan wants his wife to learn about america, improve her english, and learn to read. his bestie is a very classy manhattanite book reviewer.
Er... duh? introduce the two of them?
No - instead, Jasleen ends up surrounded by a clique of indian women who, going by the first one she met, hates america.
Directors dropped the ball on that one.
Sir kingsley and ... whoever that is playing wendy did their best (and their best was superb) but they can only do so much with this lace doily.
