Review of Leap Year (2010) by Bob S — 21 Nov 2010
This is a familiar story of an American woman used to her comfortable urban life trying to meet up with her boyfriend in Ireland. Her trip doesnâ(TM)t go so well and her rudeness and stubbornness has landed her in a remote Irish village.
Sheâ(TM)s far from her boyfriend and forced to pay a local barkeep (played by Goode) to taxi her all the way to Dublin. Adams is pretty strong as the lead, but her character is so clueless to Irish culture and ignorant to the locals that I stopped rooting for her to find the love of her life.
Goode was quite funny and I enjoyed his characterâ(TM)s perspective and how he interacted with his high maintenance fare. Of note, this romantic comedy reminded me a lot of French Kiss.
