Review of Leap Year (2010) by Gregory W — 14 Jun 2011
In spite of what this movie lacks in terms of accuracy (it geographically doesnâ(TM)t make sense to travel by boat from Wales to Dingle), it still manages to win you over with its charm. Amy Adams is simply delightful as Anna, an apartment stager, who sets off to Dublin to propose to her boyfriend on Leap Day, an Irish tradition that occurs every February 29th.
Along her travels, she seeks help from an Irish stranger, Declan, played by Matthew Goode. Thereâ(TM)s solid chemistry between the two which is critical to this movieâ(TM)s success. Deadpan lines such as, âI didnâ(TM)t know you spoke fluent cowâ?, are delivered perfectly, which helps lift an otherwise lackluster plot.
Overall, a fun, light-hearted watch.
