Review of Leap Year (2010) by Genevieve R — 08 Jul 2012
Quite predictable. Steady stream of slightly funny jokes but I found myself giggling at the amusing situations they got into, even if they were cliche.
I wonder if they are portraying Ireland realistically. Dublin seems accurate as it is modern and city-like, but Tipperary and other small towns were treated as if it were 200 years ago. There is one scene where Goode kills a chicken right in front of Adams and they have it for dinner a couple of hours later. The transportation seems to be really sucky, as there don't seem to be any taxis, the buses and trains don't run very often and there are no hotels, just homey B&Bs. I doubt the real Ireland is this "quaint," although we all wish it was.
I enjoyed it, but it wasn't amazing.
