Great, cynical, funny opening and dissection of the crooked evangalist sub-culture and the retarded troglodytes who buy into it, lifted by great perfs all around. Steve has seldom been better. All the good early work however is slowly undone by a creeping sentiment than becomes full-blown fantasy at the climax that belongs in another movie - or on one of those pathetic evangelical shows.
