Review of Lean on Pete (2018) by John H — 13 May 2018
I'm confused by the overwhelmingly positive reviews of Lean on Pete just as I was with La La Land, a grossly inferior musical. Number 1, the plot line, if examined closely, is highly implausible. To walk with a horse (after the pickup dies) from somewhere in Oregon across dessert to Wyoming with no forage for the horse and little or no water defies believe.
With the exception of Charlie, one woman waitress at a truck stop, and Charlie's aunt (seen only briefly), none of the people are pleasant or life affirming. And I get so sick of the "f" word being plastered on everything.
, Also, with the exception of Charley, the acting is bad, and in some cases, very bad. I found Charley's descent into hell on his trip to Wyoming extremely hard to watch. What is the point of this film?
