Review of Le Samouraï (1967) by James G — 29 Dec 2007
Coolness fucking defined. Melville somehow manages to blend western iconography with French culture and Japanese lone-wolf detachment. HIghlights are the film's precision in pace and composition, the minimal, no-nonsense dialogue, and a twist ending that left me absolutely giddy.
Exactly the type of film I've been wanting to see lately.
