Review of Le Samouraï (1967) by Chris V — 17 Mar 2008
A brilliant noir, as intriguingly existential as it is captivating and suspenseful. While the story itself is certainly nothing that hasn't been done before (or hadn't been done before), its telling is masterful and seems to hit all the right notes.
It's entertaining, it's thoughtful, and it never hits a bump. Exceptionally well-made, and probably the best film I have seen in a long while.
