Review of Le Samouraï (1967) by Burton — 30 Mar 2008
The "Coolest" movie I may have ever seen... and possibly ever will see. Le Samourai gave me a strong urge to buy more white oxfords, and more black ties... and the need to wear a fedora... and kill people while wearing white gloves.
Alain Delon gives a surprisingly wonderful, engaging performance, despite the lack of spoken exposition. It's all in the body-language, which just oozes cool. Melville is a stylistic master, here at his best.
