Review of Le Samouraï (1967) by Jack K — 17 Sep 2008
I had just finished watching this film not that long ago, and my what a masterpiece it was. Alain Delon gives what is most likely the performance of his career. Henri Decae is an incredible cintematographer.
This is the first film I have seen of Jean-Pierre Melville and it certainly won't be the last film I see of his. This deserves to be ranked along with films such as The 400 Blows, The Rules of the Game, A Woman Is A Woman as the greatest films of French Cinema.
I would also say that this is probably the greatest French Noir film I have ever seen.
