Review of Le Samouraï (1967) by Lizzie T — 10 Jan 2010
This is one of the best films to ever emerge out of the nouvelle vague, I can't believe I hadn't seen this sooner. Delon's minimalist performance and the use of space is absolutely fantastic.
To some it might seem very banal and boring but I find it's quite sonambulist-ic (if I can use that) and visually beautiful. Also the repetitiveness of certain scenes is outstanding and really delves into the ideas emerging from Cahier du Cinema cineastes at the time.
