Review of Le Samouraï (1967) by Eric L — 24 May 2011
While seemingly overly concerned with the minutiae of the lead character's life, this film nonetheless draws you in. If you let it. It seemingly elevates the unseen and unsaid to equal prominence as the shown and spoken, forcing you to guess at the lead's larger lifestyle and persona.
Really all I can think of to say against this movie with any great strength is that the climax is sudden, unexpected, and I tempted to say anticlimactic. But I don't because ultimately you realize that for this character, the end couldn't have come any other way.
