What makes Le Samourai amazing to me is it shows the process of the character in full detail. Alain Delon is fantastic. Just the way he moves and looks perfectly inhabits the character. He has little dialogue for a lead but he delivers them as if he has chosen his words very wisely.
Jean Pierre Melville orchestrates this entire film flawlessly. Many scenes of absolute silence and you're on the edge of your seat. Jef Costello is one of my favorite characters in film history!
