Review of Le Samouraï (1967) by Jeff M — 11 Jan 2010
I first came across this movie a few days ago while I was browsing through another members ratings. Seeing it listed as his favourite film and me being a somewhat curious guy I quickly checked it out on Wikipedia. Then followed by watching the trailer on Youtube. Even after all that it didn't convince me to watch it. But for some reason I had the urge to see this film so I quickly got my hands on it ;).
This turned out to be a great decision on my part. Before I knew it I was engrossed in the movie. They say less is more. This is a classic example of that. This movie didn't need pages and pages of dialogue. It could all be said and done with a few sentences. And despite the lack of dialogue, the movie is incredible entertaining and doesn't bore for a minute. Thanks to director Jean-Pierre Melville and the brilliant performance of Alain Delon. All these factors make this one of the coolest crime movies (that you've probably never seen).
