Review of Le Cercle Rouge (1970) by Nelly G — 19 Mar 2008
A masterpiece of tense, meticulous cinema. Arguably Jean Pierre Melville's finest hour. Alain Delon has never been cooler, the camerawork, attention to detail, and plot mechanics remain superlative almost 40 years later. This is the apex of the crime film, spawn of countless imitadors. It contains teh best heist sequence captured on film.
I cared for the bad guys.
