Review of Le Cercle Rouge (1970) by Dan B — 25 Oct 2008
This heist flick is low on dialogue (what little there is is excellent though) but high on cool and utterly captivating with it. Some may describe it as slow in a negative fashion but I think it is paced to perfection with a really dark and broodingly tense atmosphere the end result.
There are quite a few slightly implausible plot points but they are worth ignoring as everything else is that good. Great work from the director Jean-Pierre Melville and much kudos to Delon, Bourvil and Volontè for their performances.
