Review of LBJ (2017) by Donavon N — 11 Nov 2017
We saw this movie last night and were impressed! Having worked at the LBJ Library for 2 years, I'm very familiar with his legislation and history. The film got a lot of things right--a raunchy conversation taken from a taped phone call with his personal tailor was incorporated almost verbatim.
Woody Harrelson was impressive in his role as LBJ and even better was Jennifer Jason Leigh as Lady Bird. Lighting was harsh throughout, which is odd, considering Rob Reiner's usually spot-on direction, and we found the editing disruptive, as scenes switch back and forth from the day of the assassination to periods within the JFK/LBJ administration.
Still, worth the price of admission.
