Review of LBJ (2017) by M S — 12 Oct 2016
While I'm a Woody Harrelson fan, I couldn't help comparing his performance as LBJ in this film to that of Bryan Cranston's in All the Way for HBO. Cranston fully inhabits the role in ways that Harrelson just doesn't.
Maybe it's Harrelson's not so great makeup job. I did enjoy the portrayal of LBJ's folksy humor--although I'm pretty sure the real LBJ didn't spout one-liners with every breath, as Harrelson does in the film.
Jennifer Jason Leigh and Richard Jenkins turn in good performances as Lady Bird Johnson and Senator Richard Russell.
