Review of Lazer Team (2016) by Xaszin — 09 Feb 2016
Honestly, I enjoyed the movie, it was just a silly little thing which kept me entertained for the Rooster Teeth Cameos and everything. But the acting certainly felt very thin in a lot of areas, I laughed once throughout the entirety of this comedy, the special effects left a lot to be desired (Colton's sped up running looked like a slow jog at 4x speed... and the end sequence... anyway, moving on), and the story is a prime example of a fantastic concept poorly presented.
Yes the characters had history with each other, but every emotional section felt so forced and I felt almost no connection with any of the characters whatsoever.
The first half an hour doesn't feel like Lazer Team, it feels like "the rooster teeth movie". Luckily they move away from that during the later sections.
The most redeeming point is that they did romance right, I.E. they knew it had no real place in this movie, and so pretty much kept it to a minimum with a few humorous sections resulting from it.
So why did I enjoy it? I'm a rooster teeth fan and it feels like watching an hour and a half of Rooster Teeth content. But if you don't watch they're content online, I couldn't recommend this film.
