Review of Layer Cake (2004) by Dfw F — 25 Jan 2010
Color me impressed. This is a very effective crime thriller that plays a bit like if Guy Ritchie took his ADD meds. Lots of fun British gangstery stuff with solid performances by everyone involved. There IS a bit of muddled story stuff in the middle, but it resolves itself for the most part.
If some judicious trimming had been done or the story had been simplified a bit (the thread about the missing daughter goes nowhere, unfortunately) I would've given this another half-star. But as it is, it's a REALLY good crime flick.
I'm actually a little surprised at how limp Stardust ended up.
