Anyone could do with watching this movie more than once. It does sort itself out rather cleanly by the end, but getting there can be confusing as there's a whole shitload of stuff happening, and happening fast. The movie moves fast even in the slow scenes.

Matthew Vaughn was a producer on Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrells and Snatch, Guy Richie's London gangster masterpieces, and you could easily lump Layer Cake in there as a London gangster flick. But it does have its own rhythm, it's own identity, and saves itself from being a Guy Richie knock off I think.

It's not as good as Richie's film, but it's still a great film in its own right, even if you do need to keep close attention not to get lost at times.

And its great to watch it on DVD with subtitles, I saw this in the theater when it first came out and because of the accents and all the London slang, had no freaking clue what was happening from the first frame to the last. Haha.
