Review of Layer Cake (2004) by Clint D — 15 Sep 2010
The best gangster films in recent years have been coming out of Britain and "Layer Cake" is a prime example. Starring Daniel Craig in his pre-Bond days as a drug dealer who finds himself caught up in double dealings centered around finding the daughter of a friend of his boss plus having to find a shipment of pills stolen by associates who used his name, this film has a fast-paced yet complex plot where not everyone is as they seem and which keeps you guessing right to the end.
Those who haven't followed Craig's work in Britain prior to his Bond years will enjoy this as much as fans of the gangster genre.
