Review of Layer Cake (2004) by Art S — 27 Oct 2011
Daniel Craig (future James Bond) is ready to get out of the drug trade but finds himself saddled with a few more duties from the kingpin, Jimmy, before he can get out. The plot takes a few twists and turns (and caught me off guard at least once) but the style is slick and pumped up, which feels to me like an over-produced record at this place in my movie-watching career.
Still, for slam-bam thrill-ride entertainment (with a bit of the ultra-violence), it's a good one.
