Review of Layer Cake (2004) by Gregg S — 12 Jan 2012
Craig is excellent and Vaughn's direction is a veritable breath of fresh air in a genre so occupied by Ritchie's particular brand of grotesque ultra-violence, however, this is a film masquerading as a 'clever' Gangster-thriller achieved only by making Craig's protagonist competent and everyone else as capable as a Monkey, or a Fruit, or a common household object.
